Roxanna Nadine Kornegay, 96, of Denver, CO, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. She was born on October 7, 1921 to Dora Gladys and George Keen in Kansas City, MO.
Nadine was a resourceful woman after becoming a single parent soon after having her last child. Not having a career at that time, so she took in washing and ironing to support her young children – not an easy undertaking given that she had to haul water in buckets to accomplish this task. She later worked at a hospital in pediatrics while putting herself through nursing school. After becoming a nurse, Nadine opened and ran the first nursing home in Wyoming. Later she relocated to Denver, CO where she was a personnel manager at Woolworth's in Cherry Creek and lastly worked at Hewlett Packard where she eventually retired.
Nadine had a huge heart for children and for Jesus and was always active in children's programs with the Seventh-Day Adventist church that she was a member of. She was in charge of the Kindergarten program in each church for many years. She loved working with children so much, that she would hold children's classes for other community churches just so she could share Jesus with them.
Nadine is survived by three of her four children: Jerry Rose, Reid (Sharon) Rose and Hazel (Joe) Long. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her son Frank Rose and her husband Ed Kornegay.
A viewing and funeral service will be held at Golden Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1:30pm, and 2:30pm respectively. Graveside burial will be at Ft. Logan Cemetery Area A on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 @ 1pm.
