Rupert Bailey was born in Catoosa, Oklahoma in 1927 to Richard and Beatrice Bailey. During the first years of his life he and his parents lived in the home of his grandparents Charles and Ollie Mae Hurst in a rural area of Rogers County, Oklahoma. Rupert was the first born and last surviving member of three siblings: Richard Jr., Patsy and Harold.
Rupert's family later migrated to the Grand Lake Area of Oklahoma where they owned and operated three restaurants: Dick's Grill, Lakeview Supper Club, and 3 Bears Cafe.
Rupert spent 10 years in the Merchant Marines and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Upon return from the Army, Rupert married LaVonne Hook and in 1961 they settled in Denver.
Rupert worked for Lockheed Martin (formerly Martin Marietta) and retired in 1991. His wife LaVonne passed away in 1997, and he remained in Lakewood living among his family up till his passing. Rupert is survived by his children: Carla, Brenda, and Dan, and his grandchildren Heather, Elisha, and Aaron.
You're not forgotten, father dear
Nor ever shall you be
As long as life and memory last
I shall remember thee.
