Russ Regensberg

March 18, 1967 — March 1, 2025

Russ Regensberg, 57, a beloved son, brother, and father, passed away on March 1, 2025 at his home in Commerce City.

Russ was born on March 18, 1967 to Albert and Marcella (nee Salazar) Regensberg in Alamosa, Colorado. He was much loved by entire family. Russ leaves behind his daughter, Lauren Regensberg of Denver, his parents Albert and Marcella (nee Salazar) Regensberg of Commerce City, his sisters Yvonne Regensberg (Commerce City), Theresa Clark (New Mexico), Pamela Regensberg (Denver), estranged daughter, Francesca, of California, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles.

Russ was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lincoln and Mary (nee McGrath) Regensberg and maternal grandparents Joe and Josie (nee Maestas) Salazar and many aunts and uncles.

Russ spent his childhood in Commerce City and later graduated from Adams City High School in 1985. He was industrious, bright, and talented. He declined an offer to run track at a small midwestern college to instead stay close to his family and begin exploring possible careers in the Denver-metro area. He held numerous, varied, and sometimes eclectic jobs throughout his life. In high school, he took a job pressure washing charter buses which earned him the nickname “Russ, the bus washer” from friends. After graduation, he spent a few years as a hospital transporter and later a pharmacy technician. He eventually took classes to become an electrician and worked for several Denver-based companies in the ensuing years.

Russ married Lynn McCarron (now Klover) in Adams County in 1989. Though their marriage was brief, they together produced their beautiful daughter, Lauren, in 1989. Russ was so proud of Lauren and all of her accomplishments and talked about her fondly.

Russ was known by many for his charm, charisma, and his incredible memory. He never forgot a name or a face. It didn’t matter how many years had gone by, he would readily engage past acquaintances and friends he came across at stores or on the streets.

Russ had many loves: his cherished daughter Lauren, his dear mom and her cooking, his beloved retrievers — Spencer, Boone, and Bailey, fishing in Colorado lakes, watching the Denver Broncos, running into old friends and family at Mile High Flea Market, and many more.

A serious accident in 2018 ended his career and his ability to work. His mother, Marcella, primarily took care of him in his last years. Russ lived his life the best he could and left this earth knowing comfort was near. While we mourn his loss, we all take solace in knowing he is no longer suffering in a body racked by pain from years of alcohol abuse.

A Rosary service will be held Thursday, March 13, at 11 AM followed by a reception at Newcomer Chapel, 190 Potomac Street, Aurora, CO 80011.
