Russell James Vickers was born on August 20, 1925 in Dawson, New Mexico to Lawrence and Florence (English) Vickers. He had two older sisters Lillian and Anna Mae.
He grew up in the coal camps of northern New Mexico and near Walsenburg, Colorado; and attended school in Walsenburg, graduating in 1943.
After high school he was drafted into the Army Air Corp. Upon learning that they were no longer training pilots he opted to become an airplane mechanic. He spent two and a half years overseas in the Pacific Theater until World War II was over.
In July of 1946 he married his high school sweetheart, Jacquelyn Elsye Boscia. Their family was completed with the arrival of their daughter, Nancy Susan, in 1957. They were married for 75 years!!
Russ was a Gas Serviceman for 35 years with Public Service Company of Colorado. He spent most of his long retirement golfing, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn Elsye (Boscia) Vickers of Denver, CO. One daughter, Nancy Susan (David) Larsen of Cheyenne Wells, CO. Grandson Eric (Rachel) Larsen of Loveland, CO. Granddaughter Jen (Josh) Thornbrugh of Loveland, CO. Great grandchildren, Emma (5), Grant (18 mo), Charlotte (4) and Adalyn (15 mo).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Florence Vickers, sisters, Lillian and Anna Mae.

Rocky Mountain Honor FlightA visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (Lakewood) on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
A private burial will follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
