Russell Wayne Horst
Russell Wayne Horst was born November 26th 1948 in Denver, CO, the son of Alex and Arlene Horst. He died February 7th 2009 at the Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO.
Russell was baptized on March 13th 1949 at The First German Congregational Church in Globeville, Colorado. The Horst family moved from Globeville to Wheat Ridge where they resided until 1965, whereupon they moved to Golden, Colorado.
Russ attended Martensen Elementary, Wheat Ridge Junior High and graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1966. After graduation he enrolled at Mesa College in Grand Junction and later transferred to The University of Northern Colorado, Greeley.
Russ worked with the Horst family owned manufacturing corporations most of his life. His first job was with Farmer's Tool and Supply Corporation on North Washington St. Toward the end of his enrollment at the University he moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to work with his father and Uncle's at the newly acquired Wyott Corporation. After the family sold Wyott, his father opened a new business, "Century", in Arvada, Colorado where he worked until it was sold. He then started a new business "Absolute Products", which was involved in plastic moldings.
In Elementary school he was an avid baseball player and nicknamed "the white Hank Aaron". He had a great talent at an early age in art and drawings and writing short stories. In High School he took up the sport of golf and kept it up. Reading was his greatest enjoyment. He always had a new novel in hand.
Survivors include: Robin Horst, wife, Brandon Horst, son, Damon Horst, son, Diana Jackson, sister, April Hult, niece, Amy Leonard, niece.
