Russell Lee Wiggs

Russell was born in Sioux City, IA. He was raised in South Sioux City, NE and attended South Sioux Senior High. He served in the US Army from 1966-1973. He served as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War, serving two tours of duty. He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal for his heroic actions. In 1969 he met and married Rebecca Rowland and they were married for 47 years 9 months and 3 days as he was so fond of saying since she preceded him in death on October 16, 2016. Russell is survived by his two sons Stephen and his wife Denise of Cincinnati, OH, and Scott and his wife Kerry of Aurora, CO. and his sisters Sandra Frette, Leona Cray and her husband Sonny, Elaine Lopez, and his brothers Robert Wiggs and his wife Karen, Paul Wiggs and his wife Suzanne, Steven Wiggs and his wife Vickie, and David Wiggs and his wife Theresa and five grandchildren; Sydney Wiggs, Brandon Wiggs, Seth Baldwin, Brett Baldwin and Kal Baldwin and his god-daughter Elizabeth Lopez. Russell is preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Eva Wiggs, brother Gary Wiggs and brother Paul Frette.

Rebecca was born in Turin, IA. She was raised in Sioux City, IA and graduated from Central High. She married and moved to Colorado where she raised her family. Becky is survived by her husband of 47 years Russell Wiggs and her two sons: Stephen and his wife Denise of Cincinnati, OH, and Scott and his wife Kerry of Aurora, CO. One sister Janet Kneifl of Sioux City, IA; five grandchildren; Sydney Wiggs, Brandon Wiggs, Seth Baldwin, Brett Baldwin and Kal Baldwin. Rebecca is proceeded in death by her parents; Sidney and Helen Rowland formerly of Sioux City, IA.
