Russell Lowell Wilson, 75, of Arvada, CO, went to be with the Lord in the early hours of December 18, 2022.
Russell (Russ) was born on January 12, 1947, in Denver, CO to Clifton and Lou Ellen Wilson, their first of three sons.
After graduating from Westminster High School, Russ served in the Coast Guard from 1966-1970 and was stationed in Hawaii and California, also visiting Japan during his service. In the middle of his time in the military, Russ gave his life to Jesus, and everything changed. A whirlwind, God-ordained romance with Sharon Duggan, a childhood friend, soon followed. In September of 1968, the two married and began a beautiful, impactful life together.
Russ took on many roles and responsibilities throughout his life: son, brother, husband, father, pipefitter, teacher, church elder, mentor, soloist, school bus driver, grandfather, and friend. But no matter what hat he was wearing, the one thing that truly defined Russ was his relationship with Jesus Christ. This was the source of his strength, his joy, and the love that he lavished on his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and friends.
In his free time, Russ loved to study the Bible and theology. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, and baseball with his friends and family, and was even interviewed by the Denver Post and Denver 7 News about sharing his name with the Broncos quarterback. Russ and Sharon loved to camp in their fifth-wheel trailer, attend grandkids' sports and activities, spend time with friends, and go on lots of short getaways around the U.S.
Colorado was their home for most of their marriage.
Russ's family will always remember him as the most incredible, Godly man who was patient, kind, supportive, funny, and strong. His legacy will live on through his wife Sharon Wilson, three children Cyndi (David) Lewis, Kristy (David) Tomalak, and Joshua (Maria) Wilson, seven grandchildren, Madison and Kallen Lewis, Jackson and Cael Tomalak, Steele Hart, and Roehnin and Elliott Wilson, and his brothers David (Paula) Wilson and Louis Wilson.
Services to be held at Storyline Church in Arvada on January 7, 2023, at 11 AM.
