Ruth Koger, 73, of Aurora, passed away February 8, 2021.
She was born October 7, 1947 in Springhill, Louisiana the daughter of Robert Holmes and Mary "Micky" (Gurley) Holmes. She was a graduate of Springhill High School. She began beauty school in Louisiana and continued in Utah. She also received her Associates Degree from Denver Business College.
She worked at a paper mill in Springhill and then she worked at State Farm and Farmer's Insurance. Her most favorite job was working at NVTI, where she retired from in 2016.
On October 12, 1989, she married Jerry Koger in Littleton, Colorado.
Ruth enjoyed archery, winning the Utah Championship for Women's Archery in the 1980s. She also drove a race car in Ft. Morgan, Colorado and won. She loved fishing with her grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were her life and she loved her family unconditionally. She shared a special bond with each one. She was a very loving person and saw the good in everyone. She took anyone in that needed a home. She was known as everybody's mom. She was tough as nails, stubborn and she would prove you wrong if you challenged her. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jerry Koger; children, Kimberly (Loren) Tangeman,; Timothy (Jennifer) Koger and Brandon Koger; grandchildren, Brittani Tangeman, Joshua Tangeman, Donovan Cormican, Kimberly Koger, Bastian Koger and Jordan Koger; siblings, Carolyn (Hershel) Nelson and Robert Jr. (Flo) Holmes and many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends and people who called her "Mom."
She is preceded in death by son, Micheal Patton; her parents; sister, Frances Harr and brother, Charles Holmes.
