Ruthie Mae Washington

October 13, 1940 — January 17, 2018

Ruthie Mae Lyons was born in Watonga, OK on 13 October 1940 to Zelma Lyons (deceased) and Luease Mae Woulard (deceased). Ruthie was the eldest of four siblings, Alice, Annie Mae (deceased), Kathleen (deceased). Ruthie received her public education from Blaine County Public Schools System in Watonga, OK. Ruthie became a member of the Church of God in Christ at a very young age. This attributed to her Faith in God and positive attitude. During her illness she stated that she has been running for Jesus a long time. She met and married Homer Lee Washington, Sr. from Denver CO, and moved to Denver in 1958. To this union five children were born: Terry Lee (Pam), Homer Lee (Rita), Donna Jean (Rudyard), Donald Ray (Jackie), and Sherry Denise (George). Later on in her life she met Henry J. Woodard, Jr. (deceased) and James Earl was born in this relationship.

Ruthie enjoyed watching TV, her favorite shows were the Wheel of Fortune, The Steve Harvey Show, The Young and the Restless and the Christian Channel. She enjoyed the challenge of solving crossword puzzles. Her favorite sweets were anything that was sweet (smile). She welcomed all visitors and shared her favored stories that always put a smile on your face. She enjoyed all of the family gatherings and was always asked, "What did you cook" (smile). Ruthie never forgot to call her family members on their birthday. She enjoyed the road trips to OK to visit her mother when she was still alive. Ruthie leaves behind 1 sister, 6 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, she will be missed by all that knew her.
