Samuel Livingston, a successful Denver attorney, died unexpectedly on June 4, 2021 at the age of 61 after many years battling bipolar disorder. He is preceded in death by his birth parents, Samuel E. Gibson, Elizabeth A. Roulston, brother Johnathan R. Livingston and his adoptive father, Ira "Ike" Livingston, Jr. (III).
He is survived by his two children Clare Marie, Eric Joseph, his adoptive mother, Judith Garrett Livingston, his three siblings; Ira "Ike" IV (Lisa), Joseph (Kerry), and Carol (Jeffrey); and sister-in-law Olga (widow of John) and his eight nieces and nephews; Sarah, Dain Smith, Michael, Ira "Ike" V, Elisabeth "Lizzy", Gabriel "Gabe", Andrei and Grace.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and lost his birth parents within a year of each other when he was eight years old. He and John were adopted into the Livingston clan and moved to King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The family moved out to Littleton, Colorado where Sam graduated from Heritage High School, then the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley with a History degree, with thoughts of being a teacher. He went on to get a Law degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
He returned to the mountains of Colorado to practice law, eventually building his own very successful law firm taking on insurance companies for his clients. He would have given you the shirt off his back.
He loved to travel, often taking family and friends with him, to such places as Costa Rica, the Caribbean, France and the beaches of Normandy. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, Minnesota lakes, houseboating on Lake Powell and visiting historical sites across the country. Family and friends were always his priority, and he would often plan amazing adventures for them to enjoy with him. He will be remembered for his intelligence, amazing sense of humor, generosity and loyalty. He made friends wherever he went and had life-long friends from youth through his professional career. It was evident once you met Sam and were considered a friend, he treated you as his extended family. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
Please join us to celebrate his life at the memorial service and reception afterwards.
