Sandra Rae Barros

Sandra Rae Barros, 77, passed away on Tuesday October 6. She was born to the late Robert and Mary Meredith on June 29, 1943 in Omaha, NE. Sandy was married to Tony E. Barros in 1964, and they lived together in Trinidad, CO until moving to Northglenn in 1967.

Sandy was a woman who followed her heart and lived her life on her terms. She fell in love with Tony, who was 20 years her senior, and that love continued even after she was widowed. She embraced his two children as her own, and had five children during their marriage. She worked as a legal secretary, but also acted as a taxi driver, soccer mom, cheerleader and super mom. Her kids/grandchildren were active in many sports and other interests. She attempted to get to all their activities and loved seeing their success and growth. She was active in her church and community, volunteering at the food bank, and assisted in preparing meals for events, including a working seniors and widows group. She was an avid Broncos fan who loved to bowl, play slot machines, paint, and solve puzzles.

Sandy is survived by five children, Anthony Barros (Pat) of Woodward, Toni Rae Irvin (Glenn) of Northglenn, Joanna Lee (Scott) of Thornton, Robert Barros (Alaina) of Dillon, and Valarie Barros of Northglenn, and her sister Shelly Shaw (John) of Everett. She also is survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is proceed in death by her parents Robert and Mary Meredith, sister Mary Mutters, husband Tony E. Barros and daughters Louise Hofferber and Renee Barros.

Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Northglenn, CO on Thursday October 22 at 10:30 am. Due to COVID restrictions attendance will be limited to 50 friends. The service will also be streamed (details to be provided at a future date).

A viewing and rosary will be held, and a burial ceremony at Fort Logan Cemetery will follow the funeral services. Due to COVID restrictions attendance will be limited to family only.
