In Loving Memory of Sara Jane Marquez (Maestas) Sara Jane Marquez, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on August 13th, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on November 5, 1947, in Denver, Colorado. She was the beloved daughter of Fedencio (Jack) and Tina Maestas and a cherished sister to Kenneth and Diane. Sara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. A cherished aunt, loving cousin, and devoted friend, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. Sara touched the lives of so many with her kindness, strength, humor, and unwavering love.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years David Marquez, her loving daughter Mitzie Marquez Garcia, son-in-law Paul Garcia and loving grandchildren Brian D. Martinez and Erica Aguilar. She leaves behind her dedicated brother Kenneth Maestas and sister-in-law Hope Maestas. Her beloved daughter Tia Marquez, sister Diane Kawamura, and brother-in-law Arthur Ike Kawamura all preceded her in death. Sara also leaves behind her sister-in-law Martha Montaño whom she loved dearly and her devoted cousin Rose Jaramillo who was a source of love and support during her illness. Sara loved and treasured all of her nieces and nephews with her great nieces and nephews being particularly close and dear to her heart. Sara got immense joy from the close relationships she had with her cousins and extended family as well as the countless friends, who became as close and beloved as family. All will miss her dearly.

Sara's life was marked by her deep devotion to her Catholic faith and her family, both of which gave her the strength to endure and bravely fight against peritoneal and ovarian cancer for the last 9 years. She was known for her determination, intelligence, guidance and always making what she wanted to happen, a true boss. She was a longtime employee of the State of Colorado and a loyal Denver Broncos fan. Her generosity and compassion were boundless, and she maintained her sense of humor until the end.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared with us all. Her love, laughter, and spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace Sara Jane, you will be missed more than words can express.
