Sarah Emma Karr Bishop (known as Emma), born on June 15, 1926 in Iberia, Missouri, passed into the arms of Jesus the morning of August 2, 2023 at the age of 97 in her home in Aurora, CO.
Emma was raised on a small farm in Missouri. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at a local church revival when she was 13 years old and was baptized in a creek. She was a hard worker and excellent cook. While her husband Floyd served as a missionary pilot, she lived in Liberia, Africa for 2 years and in Mexico for about 8 years (4 years in Oaxaca,1 year in Ometepec, and 3 years in Chiapas). Returning to the States, Emma taught 6th grade in Longview, TX. She also volunteered at the Longview Museum. After Floyd's passing, she and her daughter Jaletta moved to Aurora, CO where they've been for nearly 23 years. Emma loved Jesus and shared the gospel with her neighbors without hesitation.
Emma is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Bishop (2000), brothers Charles Karr and Howard Karr, step-brothers Tommy Howser and Ray Dolan and granddaughter Carol Ruth Bishop.
She is survived by her children: Rodney Bishop (Beth), Dina Dorn (Lee), Les Bishop (Marsha), and Jaletta Bishop. Also her sisters Eula Mae Powell and Donna Sue Wisner and stepsister Joretta Allee. Her grandchildren: Galen Dorn, David Dorn (Megan), Shawna McCary (Darren), Lisa Harris, Gina Bishop, Corbin Bishop (Jessika), Preston Bishop (Jenna), and Dustin Bishop (Katherine) as well as 20 Great-Grandchildren: Lexy Derby-Dorn, Kai Dorn, Lauren Dorn, Aidan Dorn, Marek Dorn, Emma Zurek, Ashton Zurek, Daniel Zurek, Evelyn Zurek, Adi Harris, Ryker Harris, Elise McCary, Charlotte McCary, Millie Bishop, Conrad Bishop, Kaspar Bishop, Cooper Bishop, Abram Bishop, James Bishop, and another on the way.
There will be a memorial service for friends and family at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Wednesday August 16th at 3pm.
