CMSgt Retired Scott Patrick Tierney, 52, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Scott was born in New Hartford NY to Patrick and Kathy Tierney. He graduated from Cobleskill Central High School in 1989. Soon after graduating Scott joined the US Air Force. He had a remarkable 30-year career reaching the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sargent. He served his country with distinction and great honor. After retiring from the Air Force, Scott worked as a Program Manager at Leidos in Aurora, Colorado. He was a skilled and dedicated professional respected by his colleagues.
While stationed in Greece, he met D'Egra (Dede). In 2001, Scott and Dede married, his devotion to her spanned over two decades. Scott's greatest joys are his son's Connor and Logan. Scott was a loving father and an inspiration to his boys, showing them the importance and value of hard work and getting an education.
During his military career Scott earned two Associates degrees from the Community College of the Air Force. One in Aerospace Ground Equipment Technology and the other in Communications Technology. He also earned a Bachelor's of Applied Science degree in Political Science from Troy University and went on to earn his MBA from Oklahoma State University in December 2018.
Scott had a zest for life. While serving his country he volunteered for several overseas assignment which included Italy, Turkey, and Greece. He deployed and supported Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. CMSgt Scott Tierney was a distinguished and decorated military veteran, receiving several honors and decorations, including three Bronze Star Medals.
Scott left a lasting impression on so many people during his career, whether it was a brief meeting or a long-lasting friendship. He was an inspiration to everyone he met.
He is proceeded in death by his brother, Bryan Tierney. He will be deeply missed by his wife D'Egra and his sons Connor and Logan; parents Patrick and Kathy; his grandmother Margret Failing; mother-in-law Deborah and her husband Larry Cook: father-in-law James and his wife Vivien Tucker; brother-in-law James and sister-in-law Adrianne, his nephews Aaron and James Tucker IV; his aunts Donna Kaido, Jackie Rauscher and Brenda Fox; his Uncle Michael; as well as Quentin Tucker, Stephanie and Felix Figueroa; and many more family and friends that will cherish his memory.
