Sebastian John McGowan, 38, of Lakewood, died on Friday 07/30/2021. Born on 08/24/1982 to James and Margaret, he is survived by his wife, Samantha and 20month old son, Oliver, his parents and two brothers, Simon and Ian. Sebastian graduated from Heritage High School and from Mesa State University with degrees in accounting, finance and economics, after which he went on to complete his CPA exams privately. At the time of his death, he was actively employed at Kleinman, Guerra & Co PC as a CPA. He loved his work, his boss and this company and had plans to stay with them for the rest of his working life with dreams of holding a position of some importance in the future.
Sebastian was a middle child but was keen to make sure he wasn't ignored. He was the noisiest and most outgoing. He loved to be the heart and soul of the party which could be annoying to some but truly made him his own person. His laugh was infectious and loud. Those who were lucky enough to know him were drawn to his special wit and his boisterous, outgoing, friendly and energetic personality but it was his warm, generous and loving spirit and his quick intelligence that made everyone want to be his friend. He loved the beach, golf, music, bands and concerts. Red Rocks was a favorite venue and therefore a fitting place to hold a tribute to him.
Samantha and Sebastian met at a concert on 08/29/2012. It was love at first sight and they've been inseparable ever since. It was the birth of their son Oliver, in November of 2019, that changed his focus. He found he loved that baby more than anything in life and he was committed to becoming the best father he could be. He proved to be a wonderful father but sadly it didn't last as long as he had hoped. He will be deeply missed.
Friends have organized a tailgate celebration of Sebastian's life which will be held at Red Rocks Amphitheater on Saturday 08/14/2021 at 10am. Social distancing and masks are requested. This gathering will take place at the south end of the upper south parking lot. Please bring your own chairs, food and drink to enjoy while we share favorite stories and videos of this wonderful person.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a "go fund me" for baby Oliver's education as Sebastian had not finalized a life insurance policy. This is the link https://gofund.me/ac04b75d for anyone who wishes to help.
A blessing was given by a family friend, Deacon Donald Schaefer of Holy Name Parish in Englewood, at a closed private memorial service held at Newcomer Funeral Home at 9.30am on Wednesday 08/11/2021 and will be followed at a later date by burial at Golden Cemetery.
