Sheila was born in England in 1941 to Margaret O'Neill, was raised by stepmom Anne O'Neill and Sean O'Neill. Along with her sister Peggy and brother Michael, they moved to Ireland before moving to America via ship in 1957. She was farther along in school and had to use make-shift book covers to conceal the levels of education she was pursuing. She visited a soda fountain shop where she would meet the love of her life, John McGowan. She is preceded in death to both her parents, her brother Michael (AKA Gaga) her daughter Anne, and beloved Husband John McGowan of 49 years. Her legacy fills four generations of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A staunch Catholic girl, she was the Godmother to both her nephews, Sean Leinen and Joe Greene, and she absolutely thrived in that role, making sure they always had what they needed. The same would be said for all her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to include all the many dogs and cats she kept over the years.
She is survived by her sister Peggy O'Neill DeMaio, her brother-in-law Joseph & Monica McGowan, sister-in-law Patricia McGowan, her daughter Mary Thomas, her son Sean McGowan and daughter Tanya Tilton, nephews Sean Leinen and Joe Greene, nieces Elizabeth Porco and Maureen Leinen, and grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna, Christina, and Michael and great grandchildren Matthew, Sunny, Izzy, Skie, Wade and Oakley and many great grandnieces/nephews
Regardless of the gathering, be it Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, birthdays and the like, when Sheila was hosting, she made certain everyone was included, felt warm, felt loved, and was well fed! She will always be missed, but as long as she is spoken of, her legacy will live for another lifetime.
