Shirley Ann Albrecht passed away peacefully May 16, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born December 3, 1934 in Colorado Springs, CO, to William and Lavonne. Shirley went on to marry the love of her life, George Albrecht, in June of 1956. The young couple lived in Iowa for a few years before settling into their permanent home in Aurora, Colorado. Shirley spent much of her time as a homemaker and, within a few years, had three beautiful daughters to care for. She and George eventually added a baby boy to complete their family of six. Shirley was the most loving mother to all four children, always active in their school classrooms and activities. You could be sure she was in the stands cheering them on while they played volleyball, softball, basketball, and football. Eventually, she joined Aurora Public Schools as a secretary at Park Lane Elementary School, continuing her love and support for children beyond her own home. She remained a dedicated employee at Park Lane for 10 years.
Shirley enjoyed her retirement, spending her time with George and her children, and supporting her grandchildren in their activities. She loved planting and tending to her flowers, celebrating holidays and family events, and playing with her grand dogs.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 65 years, George; their children, Cindy (Randy), Sheri, Pam (Bryant), and Brian (Zanthia); her grandchildren John, Matthew, Stephanie, Jennifer, Juston, Brady, Braiden, Jalie, Brenna, and Evan; nine great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She loved them all and touched their lives deeply. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Memorial services are May 27, 10:30 a.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, 190 Potomac St., Aurora, CO 80011.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirley's honor to the Denver Dumb Friends League. Memorial donations may be made by visiting the Dumb Friends League donations page at ddfl.org/donate.
