Shirley J. Hicks, age 90, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away at 5:56 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the Collier Hospice Center, in Wheat Ridge Colorado. She was born July 14,1932, in Alamosa, Colorado, the daughter of Orval H. Morris and Hazel (Bolander) Morris. Shirley was a graduate of Miller High School, in Miller, Missouri.
She was a beautician then a homemaker for her two children Michael and Shari. She also was a decorator, gourmet cook and loved arts and crafts. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, exercising, and caring for her many pets over the years.
She met a wonderful man, Thomas J. Hicks. They married on June 14th, 1987, at the Jefferson County Nature Center. Thomas had four children, Susan Delmonico (Hicks) and her husband Jack Laing of Texas, Perry Doutre (Hicks) and her husband Dan of Wheat Ridge Co., Liz Sterling (Hicks) of Vail Co., Jay Hicks, and his wife Andrea of Denver Co. She also had six (Hicks) grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her son, Michael Barker and his wife, Sally, of Milford, Michigan, daughter Shari Barker and significant other Frank Cannon, of Denver, Colorado.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Hazel, Husband Tom Hicks, and Stepdaughter Liz Sterling (Hicks). Shirley is dearly missed by the Barker and Hicks families and her many friends.
