Obituary for Shirley "Annie" Mooney
Shirley Ann Mooney (Gaines), better known as Annie and affectionately known by all as "Grams" was born on November 7th, 1940 to Stella and Floyd "Hap" Gaines in Yuma, Colorado. God called her home on September 4th, 2021 as she peacefully slept. Annie was the sixth of seven girls. She grew up in a small, humble home filled with a lot of love. On Independence Day of 1957, at the young age of 16, while working at a café, she met the love of her life, Jack Mooney. Fireworks flew and they wed in December of that same year. They built a beautiful life rooted in faith and surrounded by love and laughter. They were happily married for over 50 years. Their love grew with each addition to their family. First with Scott, then Lori, then Mike. Their family further expanded with 7 grandchildren; Mark, Amber, Stephanie, Jessica, Verle, Cole and Chaney. These grandchildren blessed the family with 6 great-grandchildren; Tysyn, Kianna, Riley, Amon, Trystan and Jacksyn. Annie was always ready with a joke and a hug. She dedicated herself to God, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and her wonderful daughter. Annie is survived by everyone she crossed paths with, she touched too many lives to count and will be dearly missed and fondly remembered forever.
