Shirley Mott

December 20, 1937 — November 24, 2022

Shirley was born in Long Beach, California in 1937. At some point she moved to Colorado where she attended Catholic school for junior high at Saint Philomenas. Shirley graduated from East High School in Denver, where she was heavily involved in sewing and met her first husband, Dale. After Shirley and Dale were married, they were stationed in Long Beach, California where Dale was in the Navy. Debey was born in April of 1957 and Missy was born in May 1960. The family was then transferred to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1962 for four years.

They returned to the mainland and settled in the Denver metro area. Shirley got a job waitressing and later bar tending at Top of the Rockies in downtown Denver. Dale and Shirley were divorced in 1965. In 1966, Shirley met Richard (Dick) Mott at Top of the Rockies and they were married in June 1967.

In December 1970, Lea Ann was born to Dick and Shirley. The family then moved to Aurora, Colorado in early 1971 where the family would stay for the duration of their lives. After Lea Ann started kindergarten, Shirley got a job as a hostess for Wags Restaurant in the Aurora Mall. She moved from being a hostess at Wags to being a waitress. Wags Restaurants were closed five years after she started there at which point, she started working for Denny's as a hostess and waitress. She worked at Denny's from 1981 – 1997. At that point, she went to work for Walgreens setting Hallmark cards and working cash register. She retired from Walgreens in 2017, where she had 20 years of service.

In February 2016, Richard passed away. In March 2017, Shirley moved to Heather Gardens Senior Living Community where she met several friends in her building and they enjoyed getting together several times a week playing cards and dominos.

Through the years, Shirley enjoyed painting ceramics, bowling, sewing, gardening, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling (including spending many Mother's Day weekends trailer camping all around Colorado).
She was loved by so many and will be missed by all.
