Shirley Ann Wilkins - 85 Wonderful Years of a well life lived.

Shirley Ann Wilkins was Born January 23 1939 in a small town in Oklahoma, relocated to Denver at a young age. Shirley passed away on January 15 2025.

Survived by her youngest sibling Mr. Robert Simmons, daughter Devera Lynn Wilkins and son Steven Rhys Wilkins (Connie Wilkins daughter in-law & Former husband of 35 years MSGT Willie Eddie Wilkins. 

She left school early to work and take care of her baby brother Robert then later returning to complete her nursing certification to become a Certified nursing assistant/ personal caregiver for over 40 years serving the greater Denver metropolitan area in various hospitals, nursing homes, and various private residences. She was known for her joyful laughter, pleasant disposition and meticulous attention to small details as it directly related to providing personalized care for each of her patients.

Cooking was a huge passion for her as she was an An avid cook, she was especially gifted in the culinary art form of soul food cuisine which was her absolute favorite. In recent years she enjoyed a quiet life of being a home body, watching television and talking to her son Steven numerous times everyday. Staying abreast of current events and always seeing about her children’s needs. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Addie Mae & Doctor Simmons , 6 of her wonderful siblings Tommy Simmons, Ruth Flournoy, Dennis Simmons , Roland Simmons (Skillet), Roxie Tisby and Lovey Joy Spikes (Chicken). 

She leaves behind a huge family filled with amazing nieces and nephews and numerous younger family members whom hadn’t yet had the opportunity to meet her but rest assured, this family has a wealth spring of great memories that are sure to be shared for many years to come. 

Shirley had a deep and personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she affectionately referred to as her “J.C.” The past several years she really got to know him in a more deeper and personal way. Spending all her time at home as she slowed down, she was able to cultivated her prayer life and realizing daily dependency on Him as the source of her strength and the strength of her life!
