Stanley Joy Conner

Stanley Joy Conner was born July 4, 1935 to Sylvester and Willie Johnson Conner at home near Vilas, Colorado, and passed away May 1, 2022 at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver.

Stan was a native of Colorado born during the "Dirty Thirties" and survived the dust bowls of Baca County, Colorado. He attended and graduated from Vilas High School in Vilas, Colorado. Then he attended Western State College in Gunnison for several years. He served in the Army, including a time in Germany.

During his life, he worked at a number of jobs. He was a hard-rock miner, welder, mechanic, and later owned a towing company. He also helped build the long haul dump loader machines for Caterpillar (L.H.D.L.). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gold panning, and outdoor activities. In later life, he liked to read, do puzzles, and use a computer. Stan had an ornery streak, liked humor, and got a kick out of life. He was also a very generous person.

He married Louise Caine March 3, 1984, and they lived in Denver until his passing.

Stan is survived by his wife, Louise, step sons, Donald (Beth) Caine, Ronald Caine, and Michael Caine, sisters Elaine Johnson, Francis (Earl) Partch, Phyllis Rundell, Mary Baldwin, and brother Lee (Mary Lynn) Conner. His older brother James (Jane) preceded him in death.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Julie (Eric) Bugge', Angie (Danny) Gallegos, Jessica Caine, Michael D. Caine, Niles Caine, Aaron Caine, Kayce Caine, and four great grandchildren: Sharron Bennett, Alyssa Dizon, Nathaniel Dizon, Sophia Strong. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

As per Stan's request, no services will be held. Burial will be at Fort Logan cemetery.
