Born on December 10, 1942 in Piqua, Ohio. Steve's family moved to Colorado when he was three. He attended Red Rocks Elementary then Bear Creek Junior High up until the eighth grade. He lived with his beloved Grandmother, Grace Dix, for several years in Idledale, CO. At the age of fifteen he began working in a lumberyard, then as a gas attendant where he met his future bride. He married the love of his life, Candy Woods, on January 13, 1961. Together they had two children, a daughter, Cheryl, and a son, Stevie.
Steve started Accutronics in a one-room shop in 1976. He proved to be an extremely successful entrepreneur and businessman making Accutronics a profitable enterprise. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren, who he was not only a grandfather to, but more like their father. He loved traveling, his Harley Davidson motorcycles, hunting with his grandson, fishing, water skiing, and especially flying. Whether he was flying in his helicopter or his Cessna plane, he loved to fly. He died August 13 doing what he loved best - flying.
Steve is survived by his life long love Candy Gavit; beloved children, daughter Cheryl Kimbrel and son Stevie Gavit; grandchildren Zach Kimbrel who joined him in death, and Holly Cieloha. Steve's sisters Linda Young, Connie Gavit and Karen Newman, and numerous nieces and nephews will miss him.
VISITATION FRIDAY EVENING AT THE CHURCH, 6-9 PM. A celebration of his life will be held at Lakewood Church of the Nazarene at 1755 Dover (near Colfax and Dover) on Saturday, August 20 at 11 am.
