Stephen Locke Barritt, 82, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away Tuesday March 19, 2024.
Steve was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Fair Park High School and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. He worked for Monsanto, Brown and Root and Western Electric before establishing his own consulting firm, Barritt Engineering in 1984.
He has been a resident of Arvada, Colorado since 1971.
He is survived by wife Karen; sons Jeremy Scott Barritt and Lewis Reid Barritt and wife Toni; granddaughters Sydney Nacole Barritt, Brooklyn Noel Barritt and Olivia Ryan Barritt and two great-grandchildren, Evelyn Estelle Corn and Remington Robert Corn, all of the Denver area. He is also survived by brother Charles Barritt and wife Sheila of Shreveport, Louisiana; sister Rebecca Launius and husband Charles of Nashville, Tennessee; brother Richard Reid and wife Sherry of Hallsville, Texas; and six nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his loving family and an array of wonderful friends who will remember his generosity, wit, hospitality, and passion for social justice.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday April 20, 2024, at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 6490 Carr Street, Arvada, Colorado, where Steve was an active member since 1983. The service will be followed by a reception at the church and will be livestreamed on YouTube at
