Stephen Newsom

Stephen (Steve) Newsom passed away January 15, 2023, in Wheatridge Colorado, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was a Colorado native born on July 14, 1963, to his mother Patricia and Father John Newsom joining his older brother David (Dave) Newsom.

Steve spent his life collecting old records and CDs, drawing and painting, and working in his yard. His landscaping and gardening brought him much joy. He loved to be in his yard. He loved to blast his favorite music as loud as he could and had every RUSH album amongst other Classic Rock 'n Roll artists. In 1986 he welcomed his first child, his son John, and in 1995 his daughter Cheyenne Newsom. Steve had a soft spot for animals and had a variety of pets during his lifetime including his fish, reptiles, birds, rabbits, cats and dogs. He also had a great obsession with Star Wars and Spawn and other comic characters and enjoyed collecting similar figurines. Steve invested many years working for Gard'n Wise who recently changed to BFG where he sold and distributed garden supplies and made many friends with his clients. He was a good worker. He was a good father and a good friend. Steve resided with the love of his life Barbara, though they shared no biological children, he played a big part in her children and grandchildren's lives as well.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother Patricia, father John, and his only brother David who passed away in 2017, along with many beloved family pets. Steve leaves behind his son John Tyler, his daughter Cheyenne Newsom and his grandchildren James and Jamiah, his fiancé Barbara and her children Jennifer, Jeffery, Jill, Jessica, Jonathan, Travis and 19 of their grandchildren.

There will be an informal Celebration of Life held for Steve and those who loved him February 19, 2023, from 4pm-8pm at Nite Owl Hall 1050 S. Wadsworth unit P, Lakewood CO 80226. This will be Potluck style, and all are welcome.
