A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather Steve was reunited with his beloved wife Mary on April 11, 2024 in Lakewood, at the age of 96.
Steve was born on February 28,1928 in Bueyeros, New Mexico to Merejildo and Apolonia Trujillo. Later his family moved from the farm to Clayton, NM. He joined the Army and served 2 years after WWII was ending. He had so many fond memories of his time in Germany. After his time as an Army Paratrooper he returned to Denver to be near his brothers. Soon after he met his future wife Mary Arabalo. They married on February 28, 1951 in Raton, NM and soon after began their family in Denver. They were blessed with 4 children, Catherine, Daniel, Leon and Steffie. They enjoyed 45 years of marriage with homes in Denver and Lakewood, CO before her passing in 1996. Steve enjoyed a 39 year career with Gates Rubber Company. During his retirement he took up woodworking and made many special pieces for his home and his children.
Steve will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
He is survived by his sister Lily Lopez, 3 children, Cathy Hannemann (Marty), Dan Trujillo(Lezlie), and Steffie Trujillo(Don), 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, his son Leon, his siblings Ben, Salomon, John, Gilbert, Victoria, Alice, Merejildo Jr. and Gavino.
Visitation will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 3801 W. Ohio Ave, Denver, CO 80219 from 9:00 am-9:30 am with a Rosary being held at 9:30 am followed by
Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.
Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery following Mass.
