Steven D. Ramsey
Steven Douglas Ramsey, 62, of Aurora, passed away on October 5, 2009 at home, after 10 years of battling serious health issues.
Known to his family as "Steve", he was born March 13, 1947 in Big Spring, Texas to Raymond and Delores Ramsey.
Steve's family moved to Denver when he was a child. He grew up in Denver Public Schools and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. He attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado.
He served with the U. S. Army and and was stationed in Germany before being sent to Viet Nam. After his military service he returned to Denver and owned several automotive businesses.
His family was nearest and dearest to his heart but most especially his wife, Susan; daughters, Rene' (Dan Miller) Ramsey, Wendy Ramsey and Chrystie (Vince) Staff; step-children; Cathy Cikot and Jeff (Patty) Cikot; grandchildren, Kirsten (24), Nicholas (19), Zoe (10), Ethan (8), Blake (3), Jared (2), Ryan (4), Megan (4 mos.), Savanna (4) and Steven (1). He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Delores Ramsey; sister, Sherry Johnson and brother, Greg (Sunny) Ramsey; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Marjorie Beeler and brothers-in-law Robert Beeler, Jr. and Greg Beeler. Steve is also survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Ramsey and a brother, Brian Ramsey. His beloved dog, "Chino", also preceded him.
Steve will be remembered for his generous and gentle spirit. He was a truly brave and courageous man and during his lengthy health battles he always remained positive, accepting, never angry or bitter and always had a beautiful smile on his face. He loved John Wayne but his passion was football, especially his Denver Broncos.
Viewing, Monday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home - West Metro Chapel. Funeral Services, Tuesday 11:00am at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E. Hampden Ave., Denver. The Rev. Ruth Ann Loughrey will officiate.
Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:00pm at Staging Area / Shelter "A". Military Honors will be rendered by the U. S. Army and the All Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Greg Ramsey, Dan Miller, Vince Staff, Jeff Cikot, Nick Roszel, Doug Askam, John Tomlinson and Ron Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Beeler, Jr., Greg Beeler and Pete Marck.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2480 W. 26th Avenue, Suite 120B, Denver, Colorado 80211
