Susie B. Simmons was born July 7, 1931, in Darling Mississippi to Roxie and John Simmons. Susie was called Home on March 5, 2024. Her journey was very peaceful; she was at home embraced and surrounded by family.
Susie grew up with her future husband, L. J. Fair, in Crenshaw Mississippi. They married when he returned from the Military. Susie was a bright light that brought joy and kindness to the world. She was an original SUPERWOMAN, being a working single Mother of six: Linda Ortiz (Frank), Gary Fair (Irene), Craig Fair (Preceded in death), Nick Fair (Preceded in death), Tracy Fair, M. Lisa Fair (Connie). She was the perfect blend of strength, grace, and beauty. She was the grandmother of 12. The Great grandmother of 21, and the Great-Great Grandmother of 2+
Susie worked for the City and County of Denver in Managerial Administration. Bear Stadium and Big Mac Arena; otherwise known as Mile High Stadium and McNichols Arena were her primary areas of responsibility. She was also a very resourceful small business owner creating floral arrangements and homemade wedding cakes, in addition to her cleaning service.
Susie enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed nature, was a master gardener, and honorary Mayor and Mother of the neighborhood block. Susie was blessed to spend her last few years in a senior retirement community where she could relax and be catered to.
Mom is Home with the Lord and her ancestors. She would tell us not to cry for her she is going to Glory Land. But if you do cry, make them happy tears.
