Suzanne Barrows Price was born to Louise and Clayton Barrows on July 16, 1932, in West Hartford, Connecticut. She was the 6th of nine children.
After graduating from high school in 1952 she attended the Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing where she received her RN certificate. Always up for an adventure, she soon moved to LA and worked in the trauma ward at LA County Hospital in 1956. In 1958 she traveled to Landstuhl, Germany to visit a friend. She enjoyed Germany so much that she took a job at the US Army Hospital. On June 17th, 1958, her first day of work, she met Weldon Price who offered to give her a tour of the military base. Two weeks later they were engaged. They wed on August 12th, 1958. In September of 1959, they welcomed Shelly, their first of 7 children.
Suzanne adapted well to military life. She happily moved from place to place, always with several children in tow. In 1969, Weldon started his second tour of duty in Germany several weeks before Suzanne could join him. This required her to make the trans-Atlantic flight with six children, all under age 10, on her own.
After returning from Germany in 1972, Sue and Weldon settled with their large family in Aurora, Colorado.
Suzanne dearly loved her children and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, tending to her kids, baking, and fixing delicious meals. There was always a jar of homemade cookies for the family to enjoy. With seven kids, it's hard to believe she had any time to spare. She managed to find some and enjoyed various activities, especially swimming. In 1990 she won 2 gold and one bronze medal at the Rocky Mountain Senior Games. She was an avid reader and could usually be found with a book in hand and a stack on the table waiting to be read. As her children got older and more independent, she returned to nursing part-time. She was a nurse for Aurora Public Schools, a relief nurse at National Jewish Health and volunteered her time at Faith United Presbyterian Church's Mother's Day Out daycare. Sue, with her husband Weldon, was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian DTC, which will host her Service.
Suzanne is survived by her adoring and devoted husband, Weldon Dewain Price, and seven children, Shelly Klus (Rob), Kathryn Price, John Price (Karen), Timothy Price (Helene), Daniel Price (Stephanie), Stephanie Corbet (Kelly), Robert Price (Gerald Horner), twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, her brother Daniel Barrows, sisters Shirley Price and Kit Bencks. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Rosemary, parents Louise and Clayton Barrows, brothers Robert Barrows, Jack Barrows and Larry Barrows, and sisters Betty Goodwin and Patricia Gates.
