Tamra Slaughter

February 25, 1959 — April 2, 2022

The shining light we all know as Tamra Gail Slaughter was born in Denver, CO on February 25, 1959 to Warlena and Emma Carlis who preceded her in death. Tamra gave her life to Christ at 8 years old and was baptized at Little Rock Baptist Church by Dr. Rev. O.D. Foster. She received her education from Denver Public Schools. Shortly after high school, she met the love of her life Andrew Slaughter, at a Thanksgiving holiday party in 1979. After a long courtship, the two love birds were eventually married on October 29, 1994. Tamra is the baby girl of the Carlis family with 7 siblings - Winford Carlis, Pearl Carlis, Larry Carlis, Alberta Carlis-Huggins, Wardale (Joann) Carlis, Margie Carlis-Lee, and Brenda Kay Carlis. Her sister Brenda Kay Carlis and her adoring nephew Tayvion Washington preceded her in death. She was also adored by her brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Mattie Fulton.

Tamra or who her friends and family affectionately called Tammy or TC better known as Top Cat was the life of the party and comedian of the family. She loved cooking big soul food family dinners. She gave generously to her family and anyone that asked. She loved her family and enjoyed spending holidays and birthdays celebrating life, love, and family. During her leisure time she loved spending time in the mountains, going to the Zoo, and listening to old-time gospel and Classic R&B music. She also enjoyed a good old fashion western show. Tayvion said, "If it has a horse in it. Tammy will watch it." Tamra leaves behind a legacy of love and a spirit to live life to the fullest by her terms. Tamra was loved by all that met her. She was a beautiful person inside and out.

On April 2, 2022, Tamra's family and friends in heaven welcomed her home for a job well done. She had a heart of gold and will never be forgotten and will always be remembered and missed by those she left behind to cherish her memories: her husband and best friend for 43 years Andrew Slaughter, 2 Aunts in Eufaula, OK - Aunt Olamae Jones and Aunt Vera Jones, her siblings, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
