Thelma L. Delaney

March 2, 1925 — April 28, 2020

Thelma Louise Delaney was born on March 2nd 1925 In Galesburg Illinois.

She was the 2nd of 3 girls born to Mitchell and Pansy Bryant. She was raised in the A.M.E. Church, and was a God fearing woman and a Devout Christian. The Bryant family moved to Lincoln Nebraska, where Thelma went on to graduate from Lincoln High school. It was here that she met and married Edwin Otis Delaney Jr. To this union were born 8 children. 5 boys and 3 girls. Thelma and Eddie moved to Denver Colorado to raise their children. She was a stay at home mom, and dad was a mechanic that owned his own auto body shops. He trained all of his sons to work on cars. Thelma always put her husband and children first. She was meticulous in everything that she did.

She loved everyone she met and everyone loved her. She loved cooking and she was an excellent cook! She loved to dance and sing!.She loved when her kids hugged and kissed her! She gave the best hugs in the world! She was known as Momma Delaney on the block we grew up on. With 8 kids we had a lot of friends come over, The boy's had a band...so music always filled our home! She never complained that the music was too loud, she just sang right along with them! she never said anything but, come on in...do you want something to eat! She never had a problem setting another plate or two on the table. She did lead with a strong hand though...no foolishness when it came to homework or manners from her kids! She was the disciplinarian and could throw a shoe around a corner and still get you! She also, loved going camping and fishing. Once while on a fishing trip with Dad, they got into a car accident. But God pulled them through. She came home with cast on both legs and a broken arm. Through all of the pain, she smiled and hugged her children to calm our fears of seeing her in this condition, and to tell us we had another baby brother on the way! God is good. Mom was a strong woman. Her smile melted snowfalls and hearts too. She gave more than we ever knew she was capable of. You would think after raising all of her kids, she would be done! But, no...she babysat all of her grand kids at one time or another and loved every minute of it. She was the epitome of excellence as a wife, mom and friend. She was a Phenomenal Woman!

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Otis Delaney Jr., Sisters, Barbara Jefferson and Dorothy Arnold .

Also to carry on her memory she leaves her eight adoring children: Margo Delaney, Mariam Griffin, Edwin W.Delaney III, Rex Delaney,Gregory Delaney, Kevin Delaney, Lisa Delaney and Larry Delaney and 3 nieces, Michelle Jefferson-Atkins, Joette Nelson and Marica Toliver, 25 grandchildren,44 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. We will all carry on her legacy and her divine spirit with us. This is not goodbye, but see you later mom! you are indeed a phenomenal woman! Rest in Heaven You will be missed by all until we see you again!
