Thelma Marie Ice was born April 2, 1926 in rural Lamar, Colorado to Harley Lawson and Mary Jane Steele. She had six brothers and sisters, Bob, Donald, Francis Idler, Vernon, Nadine Carter and Kenneth. Nadine, living in Kansas City, Kansas is her only living sibling.
Thelma and the late Thomas Ice Jr. were married in 1945 and had four children and sixteen grandchildren: Connie (Russ) Redmond - Brooke (Tim) Dunagan, Jerod (Sarah) Redmond, Anthony Redmond, the late Susan (Greg) Harmon, Courtney Redmond, and Athena (Greg) Sidley; Danny (Jackie) Ice - Vanessa Ice, the late Harley Ice, Josie (Ceasar) Arleno, and Frank (Kathy) Duran; Ricky (Tonya) Ice - Heather Ice; Justin (Cheryl) Ice - Katie (Mark) Strawn, Kera (Steven) Clyde, Kassie (Devon) Hueckstaedt, Kelly (Steven) Kolberg, and Evan (Chelsea) Ice. Thelma has thirty-six great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
After graduating high school Thelma attended a business college in Denver, Colorado. She was a secretary (using shorthand most of her life) at Amache Relocation Center in Granada, Colorado, Honeywell, Gates Rubber Co., Denver General Hospital admittance, Wooden Shoe, and secretary of her much loved Village Baptist church for 25 years. She was a homemaker most importantly.
She loved her family, Tommy's family, and all of her friends. She always loved to cook - usually Sunday dinners for fifteen or more regularly for years. Shopping and returning items was her pastime as well as anything adventurous or exciting. She was always in a good mood, smiling and laughing. We're missing her but know she is perfect and with our Lord and Savior, our Dad and so many loved ones who loved the Lord.
Memorial donations may be made in Thelma's name to Samaritanspurse.org.
