Thelma Erma Mackenson, beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana, passed away on December 14, 2019 due to a respiratory infection in Wheat Ridge, Colorado at the age of 96. She was born on February 6, 1923 in Durango, Colorado to Anna and William Ford. She was the middle child having an older brother, Jack, and a younger brother, Henry, both of whom preceded her in death. She has a surviving sister-in-law, Donna Ford (wife of Henry), in Minnesota.
Thelma grew up during the Great Depression in Durango, Colorado where she graduated from high school. During World War II, she moved to California and worked in a war plane defense factory. Upon her return to Colorado at the close of war, she moved to Denver and worked as a secretary. She met Albert Norman Mackenson when he returned to Denver after being discharged from the Army Air Force. They were married on March 3, 1946 and moved to Estes Park, Colorado to begin their life together. In 1954, they moved to Edgewater, Colorado, where Thelma was a devoted homemaker and community volunteer. She was active in her church, Girl Scouts, PTA, and the Young at Heart Senior Group. She enjoyed painting ceramics, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. On November 19, 2004, the love of her life, Albert, passed away.
Thelma is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly Evans of Arvada, Colorado and Darlene Macrina of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, as well as 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She touched countless lives with her kindness, caring nature, and wonderful sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
