Theodore Martin Wodark, Jr ("Teddy") age 88, passed away on Wednesday November 4, 2020 in Aurora, CO after a 10-day battle with COVID-19. He was born on December 3, 1931 to Lottie and Theodore Wodark in Denver, Colorado where he lived for all but the first four years of his life. Teddy worked odd jobs throughout high school, ending up at The Denver Theater, which was the largest premier movie theater in Denver, where he became the Assistant Manager. In those days, movie theaters were big business and movie stars would make appearances at world premieres. Teddy's job was to make arrangements for these appearances. He was fortunate to meet some of his favorite stars including Clark Gable, Gregory Peck and Errol Flynn.
Despite receiving scholarships for football, basketball and track, Teddy chose to join the Coast Guard, foregoing further education, once the Korean war started. He spent 3 years in the service during which time he met his first wife and mother of his four children. After his discharge from the military, Teddy went on to enjoy a long and successful sales career in the pharmaceutical industry.
Teddy worked very hard throughout his lifetime to provide for his family. His four adult children all attest to what an extraordinary father he was to each of them. His interest in sports as a young man carried over into fatherhood. He loved coaching his 3 sons in their sports and was involved in 4H and athletic programs with his daughter. Teddy loved playing football with his kids at the same park where he played as a child in inner-city Denver. Teddy's love of sports continued with his grandchildren where he was often a spectator and even did some football coaching!
Teddy had a huge love of the Colorado mountains and the outdoors. He enjoyed learning about wildlife, hiking and fly fishing and instilled the same love of nature in his children. He was very active in the Boy Scouts with his sons and took all four children on lots of adventure-filled camping trips.
Teddy was a big music enthusiast and had a love of the songs from the big band genre and the 1960s rat pack era. He was a talented singer and spent the last 15 years singing in various restaurants & piano bars. He loved to read and expand his knowledge. He especially loved to share his knowledge with his adult children and his grandchildren.
Teddy is survived by his four children, Gregory Wodark, Douglas Wodark, Jim Wodark and Suzanne Wodark-Sanderson and eight grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Wodark.
