THEORA FAYE (PAULS) SCHROEDER
April 25, 1943-January 25, 2010
Theora was born April 25, 1943, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to John and Frieda (Stucky) Pauls. She was the eldest of three children and spent her childhood in Moundridge, Kansas.
She accepted Christ as her Savior in her youth, and she was baptized at age 16 at First Mennonite Church of Christian in Moundridge, Kansas. Her faith was always an important part of her life and part of the legacy she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
She graduated from Moundridge High School in 1961. She met Richard Schroeder while a student at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. They were married June 27, 1965, in Moundridge. After serving briefly with Voluntary Service in Oklahoma City, they made their home in Lakewood, Colorado. They were active members of Garden Park Church, Denver, Colorado.
Although she was trained as a medical technologist, Theora chose family over career, always giving priority to her husband, her children and, later, her grandchildren. After her children were grown, she enjoyed part-time work as a receptionist, first at Belmar Pharmacy in Lakewood, then at Environmental Medicine Associates. She liked being reconnected with the medical field and especially enjoyed interacting with and getting to know coworkers and customers.
She was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in 2008, and fought valiantly against the disease. On January 25, 2010, she won that battle, dying peacefully at Lutheran Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and passing into eternal healing.
Theora will be dearly missed here on earth by her husband, Richard; her daughter, Myra, husband Ed Holmes, and their daughters Crystal and Hannah; her son, Mike, wife Shara (Regier), and their children Josh and Jessi; her sister, Marj and husband Doug Bradbury; as well as many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roger.
