Thomas Lydon, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on November 8 2024, in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 24, 1942, in Superior, Wisconsin, Thomas was a vibrant spirit who carved a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He dedicated much of his career to working as an electrician for the railroad, ultimately retiring from BNSF. Tom was proud of his work, evident in the remarkable achievement of holding Electrician licenses in every state west of the Mississippi. His resourcefulness and problem-solving skills served him well in both his professional endeavors and his personal passions. An extrovert by nature, he had a knack for conversation, always eager to share stories and laughter with those around him. Tom often claimed to have friends he had never met, which exemplified his outgoing personality and universal kindness.
Tom was also a proud veteran, having served in the Army during the Vietnam War. His service was a source of pride and shaped the man he became, instilling in him a profound sense of duty and community.
Beyond his professional life, Tom found joy in various hobbies. He loved woodworking and carving, allowing his creativity to shine in every crafted piece. Fishing and shooting were also among his favorite pastimes, providing him with moments of peace and connection to nature. These hobbies brought him joy, but what he loved most was the opportunity to talk—a true conversationalist who enjoyed the company of others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Terry; his sister, LouElla; his daughters, Charlie (Sara) and Tammy (Scott); his sons, TJ (Linda) and Dan (Denise); and his nine grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. Each family member carries within them a piece of his legacy—his humor, his warmth, and his unwavering love.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Bartley Lydon, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the next life. As we remember Tom, we celebrate a life lived fully, a heart that loved deeply, and a spirit that will remain ever vibrant in the memories of those he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed, yet his stories will live on through the many lives he touched.
