Tolani Nefertiti Ned, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her friend's home in Aurora Colorado.
On June 21, 1967, Tolani was born to Sharron and the late Gable Ned in Denver, Colorado. She was the fourth of seven children. Tolani grew up with a love for music and singing. She was a graduate of Manual High School, class of 1986, where she was an active participant in drama and the choir under the direction of the late Dr. Joyce Marie Davis. One of her most memorable performances was in the play, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf". Her performance was a moment of empowerment. Tolani was also a member of the Denver Escolites. She truly enjoyed the routines and prestige of belonging to a well known and respected organization.
Tolani loved life! Many called her a "free spirit". She was known to nieces and nephews as the favorite Auntie. Tolani was also an avid lover of cooking. She had to have the best of ingredients. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly, they were very much her life. Tolani believed in living and enjoying life from the great outdoors (camping) to a night on the town. Tolani believed God should always get the Glory for everything in life. She knew God was the reason for her living. She enjoyed hearing God's Word and being in his presence.
Tolani is survived by her mother Sharron Ned; her children Davielle Ned (his wife Raye), Aishah Ned, Ambria Ned and Devran Cochran (Kansas); grandchildren, Danisha, Taliyah, Lela, Cassidy, Quinton, and Ariane; her siblings Terri Davis, Michael Ned (deceased); Bernique Abiakam, Timothy Ned, Myra Westmoreland (husband Roosevelt III) (North Carolina), Khallela Fletcher (husband Charles); grandmother, Mable Hill (deceased), grandfather, Lonnie Hill (deceased), and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, close friends and many others who knew and loved her dearly.
On the evening of January 16, 2018, Tolani made a peaceful transition with Michelle Ford by her side. As only God can do, He touched the heart of a stranger, brought them together in compassion and friendship, so Grace and Mercy could do His work.
Rest in Peace my mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend.
