Ursulita Huerena, 89, passed away on the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, Christmas Day, December 25, 2017. She was born to the late Juan Bautista-Suazo and Adelia Guadalupe-Ortega on February 6, 1928 in No Agua, New Mexico. She married Abelino Huerena in September of 1949 in Trinidad, Colorado. Not long after, they moved to Denver to start their new lives and raise their children Robert and Debbie.
Ursie will forever be known for her famous homemade green chili, beans, salsa, tortillas, enchiladas, stuffed sopapillas, pecan and apple pies. Her favorite meal of the day was breakfast; eggs cooked over- easy, potatoes, and a tortilla (which she used as her spoon) served with a cup of black coffee.
Her life proudly revolved around taking care of her family, home, and loved ones.Some of her hobbies included: playing cards, bingo, word searches, cooking, and traveling with her sister France to visit her family in New Mexico.
She is survived by her husband Abelino Huerena, daughter Debbie Lopez, son-in-law Dan Lopez, four grandsons: Lucian Duran, Danny Lopez, Taylan Lopez and Landon Lopez, three great grandchildren: siblings, Olive George, Francis Gallegos, Manuel Suazo, Jane Pacheco, and Viola Trujillo. She is preceded in death by her parents Adelia Guadalupe-Ortega and Juan Bautista-Suazo, and son Robert Huerena, and granddaughter Pamela.
