Vera Guerrero-Martinez, 71, of Denver passed away Tuesday March 5th, 2024. She was born to
Rudolfo and Blanche Guerrero on March 7, 1952, in Denver, CO. Vera graduated from Manual High
School in 1970. She married Ronnie Flores and from that marriage they had two daughters, Yvette,
and Jennifer. Later she married Eddie Griego, who became a wonderful stepfather to Yvette and
Jennifer. Then married Ronnie Martinez, they loved each other until he passed away and she
became a widow. Vera is survived by two daughters: Yvette (Marco) and Jennifer. She is also
survived by six grandchildren: Brittney (Josh) Josslyn, Dimitrius, Damon, Frankee (Elias) and Aliyah.
Also, three great grandchildren; Quentin, Leo, and Luna. She is also survived by three sisters:
Louise, Rachael, and Blanche along with several nieces and nephews. Vera is preceded in death
by her husband Ronnie Martinez, her sisters Lorraine and Virginia and her brother Rudolfo "Rudy".
Straight out of high school Vera worked for Mountain Bell as a switchboard operator downtown
Denver on Champa Street then worked for AT&T as a long-distance operator. She was relocated to
Colorado Springs where she eventually retired. After retirement she worked part time as a
bartender at the Skyline, Sonny's and Papi's. So many friendships came out of working in the
bartending industry. At times she was a psychologist and everything that people confided in her she
kept to herself. She valued her friendships and anyone that came to know her fell in love with her.
She loved to dance, sing and be with her family.
Vera's hobbies were going to Blackhawk, scratch tickets, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
She loved going to bingo. She loved the Greek salad from Lookin' Good, her steak from the
Columbine Steak House, steak tacos from El Toro, her breakfast burritos from Santiago's, carne
deshebrada burrito from Camargo's, her menudo with pig's feet from Las Delicias with a side of
refried beans and a tortilla, shrimp fried rice from the Lotus Kitchen.
We are having a Celebration of Life at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 8800 Federal Blvd in Federal
Heights 80260 on Friday March 29th from 4pm-9pm.
