Vern Knaub

Vern Knaub, a beloved father, grandfather, and a pillar of the Denver community, passed away on October 24, 2024 at the age of 83. Born on August 18, 1941, in Denver, Colorado, Vern dedicated over 50 years to building his legacy as the owner of a drywall business, earning his reputation as the craftsman who helped shape the homes and offices of this vibrant city.

Vern received his early education at Smiley Middle School and went on to East High school. Vern's life was not just defined by his hard work; it was also filled with cherished memories that showcased his love for adventure and connection. As a young boy, Vern found a second home at Clayton College, an orphanage for boys without fathers. It was there that he nurtured a spirit of camaraderie through fishing trips, camping escapades, boating excursions, and all the joys that childhood can bring. These formative experiences instilled in him a profound love for the outdoors, and throughout his life, he could often be found casting a line into a serene lake, or gathering family around a table playing cards, campfire, sharing stories and laughter.

A character in the truest sense, Vern was known for his unwavering support of family and friends. He always kept his faith in God. He possessed a heart that loved fiercely and a spirit that was as strong as his convictions. While he was firm in his beliefs, age softened him, allowing love and kindness to flourish even more in his relationships. A proud descendant of stubborn German roots, Vern’s work ethic was unparalleled, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure to know him.

He is survived by his son Daniel, his daughter Theresa (Mike), and his loving grandchildren who were the lights of his life. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he reveled in every precious moment shared with them.

Vern is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lena, whose nurturing spirit guided him through his formative years and beyond.

As friends and family gather to celebrate his life, we remember Vern not only for his remarkable accomplishments but for his infectious laughter and his ability to light up a room. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the memories of all whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on October 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro, located at 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80226, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM. Friends are invited to share in this farewell to a truly remarkable man.
