Veronica Duran, 81, of Pueblo, CO, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2024, with her family by her side. Memorial Services will be Monday, June 17, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 715Cabrini Drive, Lafayette, CO. The rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by mass at 11:00 and a graveside service in the Louisville Cemetery, Louisville, CO. A reception will immediately follow the burial back at the Immaculate Conception Church.
Veronica, born in Boulder, CO, July 21, 1942, and spent her early years in Louisville, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio and Rosie (Gomez) Duran, her son Melvin Gurule Jr., infant daughter Rebecca Isabel Gurule, brothers William J. Duran Sr. and Kenneth L. Duran. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Lorraine (Gurule) Montoya (Louie), her grandchildren, Marcus J. Tallitsch of Denver, Aaron M. Montoya and great grandchild, Apollo M. Montoya of Arvada. Siblings include a brother Robert L. Duran of Nebraska and sisters Juanita R. Razo and Susan Duran Lucero (Joe) of Broomfield, as well as two aunts, Cecilia Gomez and Virginia Chavez of Louisville, many nieces, nephews, great and great great nephews and nieces, cousins and dear friends.
Veronica loved all animals, especially felines. Over the years she adopted and cared for more than 30 cats and several homeless dogs. Veronica was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Blend, CO, and was active in parish work. She served on the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) in Pueblo. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Louisville American Legion, Post 111, and the Louisville Rod and Gun Club.
Veronica loved to dance, bowl and travel. She was quite talented in arranging beautiful flowers and wreaths for loved ones. She also enjoyed garage sales and watching reruns of old movie classics and the History Channel. Veronica was funny, had the biggest heart and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She will be forever remembered as a kind and giving soul.
