Obituary for Vinnie Miles Funeral
Nov. 4, 2022
The path of this journey began with the birth of Vinnie Miles on May 10, 1938 in Starkville, Mississippi. Born to the late Mrs. Rachel Harris Miles and Mr. Dempsey Miles, Vinnie was the only child named after her grandmother into a large family of 10 siblings. She enjoyed playing with her siblings as a youth and being a majorette in the Starkville High School marching band. She also had a small business doing hair in her spare time.
Arriving in 1955 from Mississippi to Denver, Vinnie worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital where she remained for over 30 years. During that time she met her late ex husband Otis Morgan and had 2 beautiful daughters, Flo and Liz. She was trained at storage tech in data entry, and IBM assisting corporations to access their computers, where she finally retired after a combined 15 years. In seeking an alternate career she returned back to school and received a license in cosmetology at the school for Barbering and Beauty. In her senior years she worked as a contract employee with the Environmental Protection Agency as a Secretary for 15 years.
Vinnie enjoyed singing and being in the choir at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. She donated much of her time to church gatherings as well as being a proud member of the Eastern Stars. She also enjoyed being surrounded by close family and friends and would always bring a lot of food and love to those she cared about for any occasion. Vinnie watched sports all the time especially football and even took Taekwondo martial arts classes into her "Senior Years" reminding herself and everyone else that being a senior would not slow her down at all! Vinnie was a HUGE inspiration to those around her near and far, whose blazing smile and personality was larger than life and whose presence will always be exceedingly missed.
Vinnie is proceeded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth L. Morgan, as well as, 10 of her siblings. Vinnie transitioned from this life into the arms of our lord and savior completing her journey on October 16th, 2022. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Flo Morgan, grandson, Kevin Morgan both of Denver, CO, sister, Rachel Campbell of Starkville, MS, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and many friends.
