88, of Denver, CO. Passed away on Friday, Sept. 10. He was living in Palm Springs CA at A&D Eldercare at the time of his death. Virgil was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed. His precious wife Darlene, of Palm Springs CA, his loving children, Ryan (Kari) Collins of Tucson AZ. and Malinda (Mike) Fletcher of Indian Wells CA, and his grandchildren Lindsay (Alan) Shettlesworth and Chris Collins, survive him. Virgil had the rare opportunityto have two careers. He was a major in the U.S. Army for 23 years and a teacher in the Denver school system for 20 years. After retirement, he was actively involved in Friendship Force and Shriners. Virgil was a quiet man but always knew when to throw in his one-liners to steal the conversation. He loved to play the harmonica and we will miss his wonderful playing. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, gardening and tinkering. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 16, at Parkview Congregational UCC church at 3:00 P.M. The address is 12444 Parkview Drive Aurora, CO 80011. He will be buried at Fort Logan Cemetery on Friday at a private service with full military honors.
