Virginia Lois Burnett of Denver passed away Wednesday June 24, she was 98. Virginia was born to Arthur and Sophia Herzberg on April 26, 1922 in Dix Nebraska. Virginia graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School in 1940. She met her husband Lawrence "Demps" Burnett of Sharon Springs Kansas in high school and they were engaged on June 19th, 1943 and married on March 5th, 1945 in Seattle while Demps was on leave from the navy. They relocated to Denver in 1946 after Demps was discharged from the Navy.
Demps went to work at Gates Rubber company and Virginia did sewing for additional income while raising the couple's children. She eventually named her business "Burnett's Draperies" and stayed busy sewing well into her 90's. Virginia was a devout Catholic and belonged to All Saints church where she volunteered and was regularly active within the church.
In 2017 she became ill and while recovering moved to an assisted living facility, The Manor on Marston Lake. During her time at The Manor Virginia became popular with most of the staff and residents because of her great attitude. The family appreciates the way the staff took care of Virginia during her stay.
Virginia was the most positive and upbeat person no matter what was going on around her. She was always joking around and quick with a comeback when challenged. First and foremost, she was a mother and the best one ever! She will be missed.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Demps, sons Larry and Brian. She is survived by daughters Barbara (George) Moon, Linda Leonard, Bonnie Burnett, Laureen (Scott) Wilson, Lois Lang. Grandchildren Chris (Heather) Connors, Courtney (Karla) Wilson, Krista (Stu) Greene, Brittany (Scott) Spear, Spencer Wilson, Jordan (fiancée Darby) Lang. Great Grandchildren Ben Connors, Peri Wilson, Sophie Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, Virginia's favorite organization to donate. www.StJude.org/donate
