Virginia Lee Engledow

April 4, 1929 — May 19, 2024

Virginia Lee Engledow passed away May 19, 2024 at her home in Englewood, CO; she was 95. She was born April 4, 1929 in Flint, MI. She had 4 children, 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was married to her first husband, Al Matteo, for about 15 years. She worked as an accounting clerk in the trucking industry where she met Ed Engledow; they married around 1977. They helped all four kids get started as owner operators in the car hauling trucking business.

Virginia and Ed loved to travel in a motor home of which they had several over the years. Of course they also had a boat and jet skis and would take anyone that wanted to go camping out on the weekends. They bought a time-share and loved going to Hawaii. One year they took a cruise and after that they took cruises almost exclusively. She loved the Big Band Music of Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller and singers like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. She loved to dance! The cruises offered this and they were sold! She also loved playing cards, anything from Rummy to Bridge, and taught her children and many of the grandchildren to play.

Virginia was the great organizer of the family picnics, camping and boating trips, and poker nights.

Virginia was raised in the Methodist Church, converted to Catholicism with her first husband, then joined the Protestant Church where she remained. She never lost her faith. She will be missed.
