Virginia Crumley Rencher Frey, 92, of Denver, Colorado passed peacefully from this life the morning of Jan. 31, 2009 in her daughter's home in Littleton, Colorado. Her husband of almost 60 years was by her side. She had been visited by all four of her children during the previous week and had talked with all 23 grandchildren. She was a magnificent wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
Virginia was born to Charles Otto and Edythe Kathryne Lundberg Crumley Feb. 12, 1916 in Iola, Allen, Kansas. She was adopted by Joseph and Nettie Rencher of Snowflake Arizona after the death of her mother in 1920. She graduated from Union High School in Snowflake and the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She lived and worked in Salt Lake City, Utah, Holbrook, Arizona and in Denver, Colorado. On June 28, 1949 she married Lloyd George Frey of Grand Junction, Colorado in the Mesa, Arizona LDS temple. They are the parents of four children, Sandra Hadley, Provo, Utah, Lloya Hall (Randall), Orem, Utah, Marjorie Gardner (Ted) Littleton, Colorado and George Lloyd Frey (Cheryl), Provo, Utah and one foster son, John Nowlin of Oklahoma.
Virginia was loved by all who knew her. She made friends wherever she went. She tirelessly served her family, neighbors, friends and those in her church. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities including as a teacher and a compassionate service leader. She visited many who were sick, hospitalized or shut in for any reason. She had a strong belief and faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and in an afterlife together with her dear family members and her many friends. She loved geneology work and spent many years serving in the Denver LDS temple. Her grandchildren relished all the meals she cooked for them and the fun they had with her dancing to her musical cookie jar and cheering on the Denver Broncos. She always wanted to have "a ton of fun" wherever she went.
She was always on the go and had the energy of a 20 year old. Even at almost 93, she wasn't "old." As she put it, she loved to "scamper."
Surviving are her husband Lloyd George Frey, four children, foster son, 23 grandchildren, two foster grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Virginia was their most avid cheerleader! She made each family member feel like they were the favorite one. They will miss her dearly.
The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful Porter Hospital hospice personnel who made Virginia's last few weeks in this life comfortable and Dr. Jeanne Seibert, her favorite physician, and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, LDS chapel, 2710 S. Monaco Pkwy, Denver. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:30 Friday morning before the funeral. Interment will be at the Ft. Logan Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
