Virginia M Velasquez passed away on 12/2/2020 at 81 years old in Thornton CO.
With her family by her side.
Born in Lamar CO on 03/28/1939 to the late Alfonso and Rafeala Velasquez. Raised by her late grandparents Demeico and Feliciana Banuelos in Lamar CO.
Virginia is proceeded in death by her sisters, Cecelia Serrano, Mary Lou Gallegos, Mary Ann Bejarano, Dolores Martinez, Scorra Lopez, Antionette Pollack, Conseula Velasquez,her brothers David Velasquez, Joseph M Velasquez, Joe Padilla.
Her Aunt's ,Angela Lucero,Theresa Corral,Eleanor Leal and a Uncle Cruz Banuelos.
Survived by her children:Son's , Antonio (Reggie) Ortega, Eric(Connie)Ortega
and Daughter Yvonne(Richard)Lopez.
Sisters, Rosie(Vincent) Gonzales, Ophelia Juarez, and brothers Ray (Nina)Velasquez of Fort Collins and Ray(Elena)Juarez of California, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She lived in Lamar CO where she worked and raised her kids.
Where she was an active member of her community, serving on the Educational Accountability Committee, the Colorado Association for Bilingual-Bicultural Education, and the Colorado Rural Housing Development Board of Colorado. She also helped with establishing the rights for the migrant workers. She was well known and respected by all.
Years later she moved to join her children in Thornton CO.
She was a nurse the majority of her life.
She put her self through nursing school and received her LPN certification.
She dabbled in other careers, but her calling was to be a nurse and caregiver.
But, Mom said the most important job anyone will ever have is being a parent.
She took great pride in being a mom, mentor and a great friend.
She loved to read, crochet and sew.
She loved to be surrounded by family and friends.
And let's not forget how she loved to dance.
She will be remembered by her compassion, hard work, love, wisdom,strength, laughter,stories, smile, her lending ear and of course her red chili.
Her great advice and a her faith in God.
Mom always said, we are nothing without the Lord Our God.
And to always remember you are never alone. The Lord Christ Jesus is always with you.
Thank you for being the most unselfish, loving, giving,amazing,wonderful, beautiful mom.
Thanks for all the valuable lessons you taught us and also teaching us such incredible ethics, morals and faith.
And for the most beautiful memories you left behind. Memories that will help us get through each day.
