W. Michael Biery

Was born, Ames, Iowa May 16, 1942, died at his home, Castle Rock, CO, Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.

Mike is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Linda; son Timothy and wife Jennilyn, granddaughters Lydia, (9) and Carriann (6) of Castle Rock; Daughter Tonia Biery of Portland, OR; Uncle Kenneth Davis of Ames, IA., cousins Peg Toppenberg of Sterling, Alaska, Steve Davis, Chicago, IL and Betsy Nolan of Fort Collins, CO. And Brothers-in law Ron Osborne of Des Moines, IA, Rod Osborne of Western Springs, IL, and Sister-in-law Tami Lack of Golden, CO. Mike and Linda were residents of Colorado from 1965-1995, moved to Oregon City, OR from 1995-2008 and returned to retirement life in Castle Rock, CO. Mike was a Human Resources Executive beginning his career at the Gates Rubber Company in Denver and working in and/or with numerous companies in his expertise including Samsonite, Celestial Seasonings, Coors, Colorado Women's College and Information Handling Systems. In Oregon, he was Regional Director of Human Resources for the American Red Cross Blood Services managing the entire Western Half of the United States. Later he moved to create and manage Human Resources for BenchMade Knife Company, from which he retired in 2008. Mike was active on many philanthropic boards both in Denver, including Bayaud Enterprises, (333 West Bayaud Ave., Denver, 80223 - to which memorials may be made in his honor), and was instrumental in the organization and founding of Clackamas Academy of Industrial Arts charter high school in Oregon City which opened for classes in 2010 as well as Workplace Investment Council of Clackamas County.

Memorial services will be held at Evergreen Lutheran Church, 5980 Highway 73, in Evergreen, CO at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, Mike's home church; and at 11:00 a.m. Dec 18, at Prince of Life Lutheran Church, 13896 Meyers Road, Oregon City, OR. which was their home church in Oregon.
