Wade Ray Dollar, 52, was born on October 7, 1967 in Phoenix, Arizona to Wanda and Dwayne Dollar. He died unexpectedly on October 11, 2019. He is survived by his devoted wife, Christine Horst; their children, Zak (12) and Josh (10); his step-father, Roy Ellis; his brother, Stuart Dollar; nephews, Alex and Grant Dollar; and step-sister Vickie Blanding, as well as countless loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Wade developed his love for cycling growing up in Phoenix, Arizona. He started working in the cycling industry in 1982 in Phoenix, where he managed and coached several elite mountain biking teams. He met Christine in Phoenix while she was working as a vet at a nearby hospital. They fell in love through their shared passion for bicycles and dogs, and moved to Colorado together in 1998. During his 8 years working at Excel Sports in Boulder he developed many friendships. After he left the shop to be a stay-at-home dad, customers at Excel continued to ask for Wade because of his deep knowledge and infectious smile. An avid cyclist and skier, he took a lot of pride in helping Zak and Josh follow in his athletic footsteps, as well as keeping all of the family bikes in top condition. His enthusiasm and "dad jokes" will be greatly missed.
Wade was a man who simply liked people, and he always had something positive to say about everyone. He also was an amazing woodworker who poured his heart and soul into remodeling the family's beautiful home.
There will be a celebration and remembrance of Wade's life on November 1, 2019 at Mount Vernon Canyon Club, 6 pm. If you're planning to attend the ceremony, please RSVP here. (http://evite.me/PVtD2f8jGY)
