Wayne Weston White aged 92 of Aurora, CO went to join his beloved wife in heaven on January 23, 2024. He is survived by his son, Frederick "Fred" (Mary) White. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Lois and his son, Peter. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tiffany White, Frederick (Cassie) White, Justin (Jessica) Carroll, Danny Nunez and Elisa Nunez. He also has six great grandchildren: Olivia, Izsabelle, Elijah, Matthew, and Jacob.
Wayne was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on September 20, 1931, to Lester and Anita White. He graduated from the Denver Public Schools East High School on June 10, 1941. He joined the Air Force on September 7, 1950. He became an airplane and helicopter mechanic and was stationed in Japan and Louisiana. He was Honorably Discharged on September 13, 1954.
Wayne and Lois shared a love of animals and in particular horses and dogs. They owned several horses and dogs over the years. They also owned a couple of margays which are a species of exotic wildcats, which often attacked Fred and his friend's necks. Some of their favorite dogs were Tontine, Fore, and Big Mike (pictured above with Wayne). Fore was not your friendliest of dogs and many people only met him through the window of Wayne's truck. Wayne trained many horses over the years and his grandson, Jacob, called him Big Papa with the horses. Wayne, Lois, and Fred went to the stock show every year. Fred would compete in the equestrian competition, winning several awards.
He also had a love for auctions and would attend them with Fred, Mary and Izzy. He would ride Izzy around on his walker at auctions and on his lawn mower when he was working around the house.
Wayne worked for the Federal government as a contractor for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He enjoyed it so much that he didn't retire until his 80th birthday. He stayed in touch with his agency co-workers after his retirement.
He had people who meant so much to him over the years such as Allen who he met each week for breakfast and his good friend Carrie who came weekly to help him around the house. He had an "unofficial adopted grandson", Wayne Banke Jr., who would fill in for Fred by filling his prescriptions, taking him shopping, helping him when needed and going to breakfast and spending time with him just visiting.
Wayne was loved dearly and brought much happiness to the many hearts he touched. He was always kind, caring and understanding. If help was ever needed, then it came so freely from him. He was a blessing and God's gift to all of us.
